Timeslots in Bachelor College timetable
The Bachelor College timetable incorporates timeslots. These are fixed units during the week in which the subjects are scheduled. This allows the basic subjects to be properly scheduled and benefits the students by making it clear which elective subjects and majors will fit in their rosters. We have opted for a week of 5 eight-hour timeslots. The nominal study load of Bachelor College students is 3 subjects of 5 credits per quarter, which means that they have3 timeslots scheduled for subjects per week, leaving 2 timeslots free for self-study. This split of 60% contact hours and 40% self-study is an essential component of the educational change.
Core group
Currently a core group of schedulers from the departments and STU are busy assigning subjects in the first year of the Bachelor study programs to timeslots. The subjects in the second and third years of the ‘old’ Bachelor study programs and in the Master study programs will be scheduled in the normal way. So scheduling in timeslots will (for the time being) only apply to subjects that fall under the Bachelor College.
